Baltimore Ravens Decide to End the Game By Giving up a Safety
The Baltimore Ravens chose an odd way to end their game today against the Cincinnati Bengals with a win. The forth quarter was winding down with just under 12 seconds left to go in the game. Ravens had the ball and it was 4th-and-8 from their own 23-yard line.
Holding a lead of 19-12, punter Sam Koch grabbed the snap and held the ball until the game was about to end. Koch backtracked into his own endzone and gave the Bengals two points. The Ravens ended up getting called for several penalties trying to get the defense from getting to the kicker.
All penalties were offset and the game ended 19-14. There is no extended time after the safety. Smart play or dumb luck?
In Baltimore, foul that occurs in the field of play by offense doesn't extend the period. If foul was in end zone & created safety, it would— Mike Pereira (@MikePereira) November 27, 2016
