Bill Belichick Was Not Entirely Confident in Tim Tebow
In a recent interview with Fox & Friends, Former NFL quarterback Tim Tebow reveals his emotions surrounding his release from by the Patriots in 2013. As you may know, the Patriots coaching staff and Tom Brady hold the team to very high standards. Tebow set high standards for himself. It is an incredible experience to be coached under Belichick and learn from an MVP quarterback like Brady.
Unfortunately for him, Tebow was before the start of the season. His reaction:
"It's difficult because it also cuts into your pride, it cuts into your goals, it cuts into your dreams, and when all of that feels like it’s shaken, how do you react? How do you handle it? And, for me, I felt like, "Hey, going to the Patriots was gonna be a dream come true." Play under Tom Brady, and then when he retires, we'll go play for [Patriots head coach Bill] Belichick and win a bunch of Super Bowls, and that was my goal. That's what I thought was gonna happen, and then you get cut and it's like, "Hey, what do I do next?"
In the interview he comments about how Belichick encouraged him to stay away from a $1 million endorsement deal. The team should be the primary focus. Tebow agreed with his former coach. He talks about living today with no regrets and how he would never change his answer back in 2013.
Brady will obviously be the dominant quarterback until he retires. There is no indication on when he will retire. Tebow was hoping to be his successor. He had a terrible time serving as the backup to Mark Sanchez the year before.
Now Tebow has signed with the New York Mets. He was awarded a $100,000 signing bonus.
