Jared Goff Will Start Week 11. Can He Live Up to the Hype?

The Los Angeles Rams have officially named rookie quarterback Jared Goff their starter. It took eleven games, but now Goff will replace Keenum. Will he live up to the expectations of a first round pick?

"He's ready, he's preparing and doing well," head coach Jeff Fisher said in the Rams' announcement. "He's anxious and confident."

Prior to the 2016 NFL draft, Goff was expected to perform better in the NFL than second overall pick Carson Wentz who started week 1. In his three years with the California Golden Bears his stat sheet read 12,195 yards, 96 touchdowns and 30 interceptions.

Part of the reason why Goff may have not started until now is because of his sub par play in the preseason games. He completed just about 45% of his passes for 232 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions.

Throughout the first few weeks of the 2016 season the coaching staff continued to question if he was ready.

Jason La Canfora talked to an executive who believes the only was to evaluate Goff is to put him to work:

"The problem for Fisher now is...he's taking this thing out so long, that he's sort of damned if he does and damned if he doesn't. If [Jared] Goff comes in and doesn't [urinate] down his leg, then everyone will say, 'Why didn't you play him a month ago?' And if he does come in and [urinate] down his leg, well, then, 'Why did you trade up to [first overall] for him?"

Several fans have been heard chanting Goff during games. If Goff doesn't get out there sooner than latter he will start to lose his confidence. With an offensive line ranked 24th in pass protection, he is going to need all the game exposure he can get.
