Tragic Ending to Aaron Hernandez's Life

It was just seven years ago that former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez was drafted into the NFL. A few years after he was drafted he was making millions living the good life scoring touchdowns for a great football team. In a span of just seven years he lost everything. All that talent is gone forever.

I have to say that I was a little surprised to hear the news this morning that Hernandez was found dead in his cell, after reportedly hanging himself with bed sheets. The tight end tried blocking the door from the inside with a variety of items in his sell.

Hernandez has been serving a life sentence. He took his own life a few days after he was acquitted of double murder.

"The family and legal team is shocked and surprised at the news of Aaron's death," Hernandez's lawyer Jose Baez said in a statement. "There were no conversations or correspondence from Aaron to his family or legal team that would have indicated anything like this was possible. Aaron was looking forward to an opportunity for a second chance to prove his innocence. Those who love and care about him are heartbroken and determined to find the truth surrounding his untimely death. We request that authorities conduct a transparent and thorough investigation."

Hernandez's former agent, Brian Murphy, said Wednesday morning there was "absolutely no chance" Hernandez took his own life.

There are also some rumors floating around that he did not take his own life. Other sports sites are claiming that he may have smoked some marijuana before ending his life. Earlier this morning investigators noticed “John 3:16,” a reference to the Biblical verse, was written on his forehead with red pen.

The worst part of this all is that his daughter is now going to grow up without a father. What is she going to think when she hears stories about her father? I can not imagine how the rest of his family feels right now. How are the families affected by Hernandez's shootings going to sleep with this news?

Stay tuned for more updates.
