2016-2017 Preview: The Top 10 Forwards!
Who cannot wait for the season to begin? Raise your hands! With a lot of player movements this offseason, I expect a very fascinating and entertaining season.
For today, we will tackle the most underrated position which is forward. They are the players that can play SF and PF.
I score them in three areas that encompasses the position:
Scoring (15 Points): The ability to score.
Offense (15 Points): All the other aspect of offense other than scoring.
Defense (20 Points): Their ability to lockdown their assignments, play team defense and grab rebounds.
#10 REIL CERVANTES
Total = 27
He is an effective scorer and that has landed him to the right team who gave him the opportunity to show that he is the tenth best forward, today.
#9 KEITH JENSEN
Total = 29
It is unfortunate that Keith is currently out of the PBA due to family matters because he revealed good versatility in the last two years.
#8 WILLY WILSON
Total = 33
Wilson has rejuvenated himself in Phoenix with his 11.6 points, 8.9 rebounds and 2.5 assists this conference. Hard work really pay off.
#7 GABE NORWOOD
Total = 34
I am still sad that he did not try his best to harness his athleticism to develop his scoring. He is a lockdown defender who can create and stretch the floor on offense.
#6 TROY ROSARIO
Total = 36
You know what, he was a much better player in the playoffs than in the elimination round. In the playoffs, he contributed 12.7 points, 5.3 rebounds, 50% FG and 39.3% 3FG.
#5 JARED DILLINGER
Total = 37
Increasing his efficiency from the outside has made him a much dangerous player on the offensive end. Once in a while, he turns into a point guard mode and he does it pretty well.
#4 ARTHUR DELA CRUZ
Total = 39
Can we already anoint him as the steal of the 2015 draft? In literal sense, he is an elite thief with 1.7 steals per game. That makes him a very dangerous defender and in offense? He always do the right thing.
#3 SEAN ANTHONY
Total = 39
Last season was the breakout year of Sean. He managed 15.0 points, 9.2 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 46.5% FG. He also posted the sixth best player efficiency rating of PBA-online.net.
#2 ARWIND SANTOS
Total = 40
By a single point, Arwind is the second best forward in the league. He has fallen in-love of shooting from the outside but I still saw enough evidence that his driving and midrange game is still there. In defense, he is one of the best rim-protector.
#1 CALVIN ABUEVA
Total = 45
He should be handling this spot for a while. There is no doubt that he is the most versatile player in the entire league.
