Initial 2016 Regular Rookie Mock Draft

The regular draft is not as sexy as the Gilas draft but it is a very interesting pool. So, here is my predictions for the draft.

1 Blackwater - Jericho De Guzman
With the season-ending injury of JP Erram last season, Blackwater should better pick an insurance. So how about a 6'11 kid who practiced with a professional team already, Ginebra? This is basically the 2nd round of the draft and at this point, the Elite should better take a swing on a giant.

2 Phoenix (from Star) - Jonathan Grey

Phoenix will take the best talent available and I am pretty sure they point to Grey. With Grey, they will have a player who is a creative slasher, solid body, athletic and is developing an outside shot. Not only that, with his looks, he will help with their marketing.

3 Ginebra (from Phoenix) - Levi Hernandez
I will be honest, it is so hard to predict the regular draft! Levi Hernandez is a great scorer with a solid shooting from the outside. He is a hardworker and he is also efficient. I think, coach Tim will like his personality and they do need a scorer in their wing so Levi could be a good deal.

4 Mahindra - Joseph Eriobu

the mentality of Mahindra is go for the hardworker at this point and that guy will be Joseph Eriobu. He is very good in defense because of his diligence and he has the size, 6'4, to play some minutes in SF and PF position.

5 Star (from GlobalPort) - Chris Javier
Of course the Star will not go for a backcourt and a wing player at this point because they are already super-loaded at those positions. Chris Javier is a hardworking, non-athletic big and he is the best available frontliner at this point.

6 San Miguel (from NLEX) - Rashawn McCarthy
I expect this pick to be traded and the receiver will surely pick Rashawn McCarthy. He is very good on the defensive end and he has scoring capability. His 6'6 wingspan is a weapon.

7 Meralco - Gelo Alolino
Meralco will be more than happy to scoop Gelo Alolino. He is a solid ball-handler, decision maker, defender and scorer. One unique thing that he will give the backcourt of the Bolts is rebounding. Is he as good as Scottie Thompson in the rebounding department? Nope, but he is close.

8 NLEX (from TNT) - John Eman
Will coach Yeng stop himself from picking a 6'7, 27 years old at this point of the draft? I think he will take a chance on John knowing that Asi Taulava is their as a mentor.

9 Rain or Shine - Raymond Jamito
Coach Yeng is gone but Rain or Shine is still the most physical team in the league so how about a player that was given the moniker of "Jammer". Raymond is pretty good inside. He has good moves and he is always battling for the rebound.

10 Ginebra - Jessie Saitanan
I expect coach Tim to use one of his three picks for a bigman and at this point, Saitanan is the best prospect available. He can rebound and he can bang inside. Those are very good skills for a practice player next season.

11 Alaska -Ryan Arambulo
He is a scorer with a good size to be a passable defender. He loves to slash and he can finish well. He can also knock shots from the outside. He will be a good addition to the wing of Alaska and he will surely push Kevin Racal to play harder.

12 Phoenix (from San Miguel) - Mikee Reyes
At this point, Phoenix should take the best prospect available and that is Mikee Reyes. He has suffered big injuries but he can really quarterback a team.
