These are my steps in Rebuilding Rain or Shine this Offseason

Rain or Shine is on a crossroad this offseason. As we have stated in our recent News and Rumors recap, there were rumors that Rain or Shine will try to put up the most cost-efficient line-up for the upcoming season. That will not be easy with eleven expiring contracts.

Here are those players and personnel:
Coach Yeng Guiao
Paul Lee
Jericho Cruz
Jeric Teng
Gabe Norwood
 Jireh Ibañes
Beau Belga
JR Quiñahan
Raymond Almazan
Jewel Ponferada
Ronnie Matias

For today, I will give my advice on how to rebuild the roster as cost-efficient as possible. If I am the General Manager, these are the steps that I will take.

#1 Re-sign Coach Yeng Guiao
- I will go at the limit of my limit, financially, just to retain Coach Yeng. Rain or Shine will not be the Rain or Shine that we know today without Coach Yeng. He is also one of the few coach who can develop talents and build a winner out of an average collection of players.

#2 Trade Paul Lee
- I don't expect Paul to change his stance about his contract, soon. Actually, I don't think giving him the maximum contract is the best decision right now. Jericho Cruz has played like a maximum contract player and I will choose him over Paul Lee because he was more productive this season and he was more healthy than the Leethal Weapon.

Putting Paul on the trade block will open up a huge possibility of getting a quality young big. I am talking about Ian Sangalang, Moala Tautuaa and Bradwyn Guinto. We found out, recently, about the rumored possibility of Star trading Ian. A Lee for Sangalang can be an excellent swap for both side. Coach Yeng will finally have a coveted quality big that plays intelligently and Star will get an elite player to usher them to their new era.

Moala has been underused in TNT, somaybe a star like Paul Lee can allure the Tropang Texters of giving him up. Lastly, Bradwyn Guinto can also be a possibility. I expect Coach Yeng to turn him into one of the best big in the league and they will also get some picks or other talents in trading Paul Lee to Mahindra.

#3 Trade one of Belga, Quinahan, Almazan and Ponferada for a 2017/2018 1st round pick

If they accomplished #2, they can now let go of one of their four bigs. I will choose the one who will ask for the most unreasonable contract. I do believe that they can lure at least one 1st round pick for any of those guys. If they cannot, then try to find three 2nd round picks or at least two tall SF, PF or C.

#4 Re-sign Gabe Norwood
I see Gabe as a loyal guy and if the #2 and the #3 is accomplished, I believe a deal would be easily made here.

#5 Try to re-sign Jireh Ibanez, Jeric Teng and Ronnie Matias but don't go overboard

As long as the price is right, they should retain these three players. Jireh is their most tenured player, Jeric still has untapped potential and Matias is a superb end of the rotation guy and will help a lot in practice.

I just want to emphasize that this is just my opinion so don't expect it to be the path that the Rain or Shine management will take.
