Phillies Promote Seranthony Dominguez
The Phillies promoted pitching prospect Seranthony Dominguez to Philadelphia on Monday evening.
Dominguez, 23, signed with the Phillies organization in 2011 as a starting pitching prospect. He has since been converted to a relief pitcher. The switch to the bullpen has proven to be very successful for Dominguez thus far. Between double-A Reading and triple-A Lehigh Valley this season, he has thrown 16.2 innings out of the bullpen. In those innings, he has posted a 1.62 ERA while striking out 21 and only walking 3. Now was as good of time as ever to call up Dominguez, with Adam Morgan hitting the disabled list and Hector Neris struggling mightily for the Phillies bullpen.
Dominguez is just another talented young player on the Phillies' major league roster. He joins Scott Kingery, Aaron Nola, Rhys Hoskins, Jorge Alfaro, J.P. Crawford, Maikel Franco, and Odubel Herrera as the potential core for the next successful era of Phillies baseball. The youngest team in baseball just got even younger.
