I'm back with Fifth Down reviewing the Eagles games. With that said the first game of the 2017 Eagles season is in the books and the they finally beat the Redskins 30-17 after losing five straight games to them.

The Eagles scored first, as they got a touchdown early in the first quarter. Carson Wentz hooked up with Nelson Agholor with a 58 yard touchdown pass. It was a thing of beauty! The Skins fumbled the ball for the first turnover of the game when Fletcher Cox sacked Kirk Cousins and Cox recovered the fumble. The Eagles got another fumble after the Skins muffed the punt catch.

Early in the second quarter, the Eagles scored again as Carson Wentz passed to LeGarrette Blount for a touchdown and they miss the extra point. The Eagles led 13-0. With under ten minutes in the second quarter the Skins got on the board as Ryan Kerrigan picked off Carson Wentz and scored a touchdown. Late in the second, the Skins scored and took a 14-13 lead with a Chris Thompson touchdown catch. The Eagles were able to get in field goal range and took the lead halftime, leading 14-13.

The Eagles got another field goal early in the third to extend their lead to five and led 19-14. Late, in the third the Skins hit a field goal of their own to cut the lead to two and trailed 19-17. Mid-way though the fourth quarter the Eagles got another field goal and led 22-17. With 1:38 left in the game the Skins fumbled again and Cox recovered and took to the house for a touchdown and the Eagles went for two and got it.

Finally, my thoughts are the game are that it wasn't the greatest performance by the offense but it wasn't awful either. The play-calling could have been better but hopefully that will improve throughout the season. The defense won us this game with four turnovers (three fumbles and one interceptions). Nelson Agholor had a really good game, he had six catches for 86 yards and one touchdown. The bad news that came out of the game was recently acquired Cornerback, Ronald Darby (got him in a trade from the Buffalo Bills for Jordan Matthews). Darby was carted off after injuring his right ankle (Dislocated Ankle) and will be out 4-6 weeks and won't need surgery.

If that was true ^^^ some fans are disgusting!

Our Next game is next Sunday at 1pm against our old friend/coach Andy Reid as the Eagles take on Kansas City Chiefs. Then the week after that will finally be our home opener against Eli Manning and New York "Football" Giants!
