Thursday Night Football in jeopardy.

There was some chatter about the NFL considering the removal of Thursday night football games due to low ratings (mostly stemming from Pro Football Talk). Today the NFL confirmed that the Thursday games are not going anywhere.

The partnership that the NFL has with NBC and CBS is good through 2017. That means that there may be changes (if any) starting in 2018.

There are several concerns around the league about playing on Thursday. It gives teams limited time to recover from the previous game a few days ago and almost no time to practice. Especially if teams have to travel across the United States for a game.

Player safety is not being taken into consideration. NFL games are long and hard on the human body. Players can get seriously injured as we have seen already.

"I mean, it's rough," Richard Sherman said in October 2015, per Sheil Kapadia of ESPN.com. "It's rough on the body. Any time you play a football game and play another one a few days later, it's going to be tough on the body. But it's just another one of those things. Another one of those simple contradictions of the league, because they care about us."
