All-Star Weekend Needs The Greek Freak

Since entering the league, somehow, someway, Giannis Antetokounmpo has managed to become a household name to NBA fanatics, despite how hard his name is to say. During his rookie campaign, Antetokounmpo had a growth spurt, going from 6-foot-9 small forward, to a 6-foot-11 point forward, and the Milwaukee Bucks' premier ball handler.

After drafting Jabari Parker with the second overall pick in 2013, the future was looking bright for the Bucks. Antetokounmpo was just another prospect. After Parker went down with a torn ACL, things weren't looking good in Milwaukee, and the future was hanging in the balance. Then "The Greek Freak" began to get more and more minutes. He was a sight to behold. Analysts began to imagine what it would be like he began to develop a skill set to go along with his size and tremendous wingspan. His rookie stats weren't awe-inspiring, but you could see that their was potential.

Since then, he has become a sensation. Improving his offensive game in each of the last two seasons, and I believe that he deserves to be an All-Star this season, more so than anybody else in the Association.

At 6-foot-11, Antetokounmpo is the Bucks' primary ball handler, and is putting the team on his back night after night, averaging 23 points, almost nine rebounds and just over five assists. His three point shooting isn't great, but overall he is shooting 55% from the field, and his presence is felt every single night by opponents, whether it's his incredible dunks, or his tremendous court vision.

The Bucks might not be contenders, but they could very well have an MVP candidate on their roster. And without a shadow of a doubt, they have an All-Star. The Greek Freak  may not be a starter, with guys like LeBron James, Paul George and Carmelo Anthony hanging around, but he needs to at least be on the roster. There is no doubt in my mind that this kid is ready to shine.
