LeBron Pushing to Get Cavs to Trade For Carmelo Anthony
According to a report from The New York Daily News' Frank Isola, LeBron James is making a serious push to get the Cleveland Cavaliers to trade for Carmelo Anthony. One thing that could stand in the way of a deal between the teams, is the very large salary of Anthony, who signed a blockbuster deal with the Knicks a few summers ago. The only player the Cavs could trade to make this happen is Kevin Love, who will be coming off the bench in this years All-Star game, and having easily his best season in Cleveland so far. But according to league sources, LeBron wants Melo, even if it means trading Love.

Any deal, of course, would require Anthony to waive his no trade clause, and if it's a chance to play with LeBron, and compete with Golden State in the Finals this year, I'm sure he would comply. Anthony is one of James' best friends in the league, as the form a league inner circle with Chris Paul and Dwyane Wade (you may also know them as the Banana Boat crew).

This could be viewed as a win for everyone involved. Melo would have a chance to win a title, to go along with his three Olympic gold medals, the Knicks would unload him, which Phil Jackson has made hints that he wants to and LeBron would get something he wants (big shock huh?). It would also make for an interesting (and inevitable) Finals rematch.
James has called on for Cleveland to get another playmaker, and it doesn't get much better than Anthony. And with the hold he has on David Griffin and Dan Gilbert it could be possible. Especially since they're on thin ice with the King after failing to sign a reliable backup point guard this summer.
