Charlie Strong to be axed by Saturday: Is Tom Herman on the way?

For those hoping for a second chance for head coach Charlie Strong at Texas, you are not in luck. Per Bobby Burton of 247Sports, Strong is expected to either be fired or resign no later than Saturday.

Texas lost to TCU on Friday 31-9, putting them at 5-7 on the season and 16-21 during Strong's time at the post.

Another interesting piece of news related to this is  that Longhorn officials are expected to interview Houston head coach Tom Herman Saturday as well.

When asked by 247Sports if Strong would be the Texas coach come Saturday, a Texas official said rather tellingly, "(I) don't know the answer to that one."

To me, it sounds like this is the end for Charlie Strong at Texas. Right from his hire, there were Texas boosters that did not even want him hired. Now. after three seasons in which strong was repeatedly criticized (both fairly and unfairly) another losing season sounds like the perfect time to cut the cord.

It may be best for both sides to part ways. Many have had it out for Charlie Strong from the get-go and as he has struggled to build the program,  the results have not been there. Texas as it stands is a very difficult coaching job at the moment. The program is still in the rebuilding stages and there is still a lot of work to be done, in particular landing recruits from within the state of Texas.

. If anything is certain, it  is that there will be no love lost between Texas and Charlie Strong. We shall see the fallout, if any, on Saturday.
