Here is Why Abhinav Bindra Called Anil Kapoor His Dad

Abhinav Bindra Called Anil Kapoor His Dad: A day ago, CEO of NITI (National Institution of Transforming India) Amitabh Kant praised India’s only individual gold medalist Abhinav Bindra’s endeavor to create an ecosystem for aspiring young talent to get access to best global practices, helping the next generation of athletes reach greater heights and win more laurels for the nation.

He tweeted “Extremely encouraging to see India’s only individual Gold Medalist @Abhinav_Bindra strive to create an ecosystem for aspiring young talent to be at par with global best practices. Such commitment and initiative r sure to help next generation of athletes win medals. True champion”.

Anil Kapoor and his son Harshvardhan Kapoor are all set to come together on the big screen. In an interview with a newspaper, Anil confirmed months of speculation that he is a part of the biopic of Olympic gold medallist Abhinav Bindra.

While Harshvardhan will be seen as Abhinav, Anil has been roped in to play Abhinav's father, Apjit Bindra. Rumours were doing the rounds that the senior actor was hesitant to share screen space with his son as he did not want any unfair comparisons between them.

However, Anil rubbished the news and said, "There was not a moment's hesitation in accepting this part, and my son is confident enough to work with me even now when he's just two films old. In fact, both my children - Sonam and Harsh - have been making brave choices from the beginning. Sonam started with an unconventional Saawariya directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Harsh's launch in Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's Mirzya was equally unorthodox. They are both very confident actors."

Anil is proud that Harshvardhan has been signed to play India's only individual Olympic gold medallist. "With the Abhinav Bindra biopic, I am proud to say I said 'yes' immediately. My son is playing a sportsperson who was the first individual gold medallist at the Olympics from India. I'd be happy to play a walk-on part in such a film that does the country proud," he said.

Though Anil is happy to take on "supporting or even negligible parts" in films featuring his children, his role in the Abhinav Bindra biopic is a pivotal one, revealed an insider.
