Hurricane's Lucas Cooper Named First Team All State!

Hurricane Senior Linebacker Lucas Cooper received a top honor by being named to the AAA 1st team All State  team on Sunday. Cooper who earlier in the month had been named Hurricane's Defensive Player of the year for the 2nd consecutive season, had a team leading 104 tackles and returned 2 fumbles for Touchdowns this season. Cooper who also lead the Redskins in tackles in 2015 finished his career with just under 200 tackles.

Lucas is the fifth of six Cooper brothers to have played 4 years for the Redskins. Of course All State First team is a tremendous accomplishment, being the first in this particular family to be thus rewarded takes on a whole separate meaning.

Cooper started the season with a bang!

Cooper was previously named to All Kanawha Valley First team and was Special Honorable mention on the All MSAC team (Sportswriters correct, Coaches not so much?)

Notes: On a personal note Hurricanefootballfan has waited many years for this day to come and could not be happier. Thank you to the sportswriters, especially the WVGazette Gurus, who we had some fun teasing this season. Congratulation to Lucas, Coach Taylor and Pratt, and Linebacker Coach Batman. Kudos to J.T., Steven, Payton, Dakota, Mark and Austin!!!! With 4 of those reviving Honors today being underclassman we look for several All State First Teamers in 2017!
