Will the Blue Raiders Avenge Last Year's Loss
By: Rickey Fuquay, Jr.
DENTON, TEXAS - Western Kentucky and Middle Tennessee will meet for the 65th time in the "100 Miles of Hate" rivalry on Saturday, October 15, 2016. Kickoff at Johnny "Red" Floyd Stadium is set for 1:30 p.m. and will air nationally on ESPN3.com
The Blue Raiders will be looking to keep their winning streak going after hammering North Texas 30-13 last night at Apogee Stadium. The wi improved MTSU to 4-1 (2-0 C-USA) which is their best start under Head Coach Rick Stockstill.
Here are three reasons why the Blue Raiders will bounce back from a disappointing loss on Homecoming last year.
Home Sweet Home
Under Stockstill, the Blue Raiders are 6-4 on Homecoming. One of those wins came up against WKU in 2009 by a final score of 62 to 24.
Rivalry Advantage
MTSU is 4-1 against the Hilltoppers on Homecoming. If the Blue Raiders don't get off to a slow start offensively like they've done in the last two games, then this could be decided by double digits.
The Rest Will Be Worth It
Even though the Blue Raiders have been struggling in games following a bye, I just don't WKU's offense will have the answer to match up against our defense especially since Quarterback Brandon Doughty graduated from WKU in 2015 and was picked up by the Miami Dolphins as an undrafted free agent during the 2016 NFL Draft and signed to the practice squad on Friday, September 16, 2016.
