What the Browns should have done at the deadline

This years NFL Trade Deadline was crazier than ever. Contenders and bottom-feeders were making moves all day long to bolster their teams for the rest of the year, and the future. One team that decided to not make any moves that probably should have, was the Cleveland Browns. The Browns didn't get worse, but they didn't do anything to help the teams future outlook. Here's what I would have done.

1. Trade for an offensive play-maker.

Main Option...Trade for IND WR Donte Moncrief: Moncrief is a free agent at the end of the season and is expected to move somewhere else. The Colts were willing to move him for next to nothing, such as a 5-7 round draft pick in the future. Moncrief is a weapon the Browns could use for the last half of the season as they try to win a game and not go 0-16. While this year he only has 18 receptions for 271 yards and score, Moncrief has the big-play ability the Browns offense lacks as he's averaged 12 YPC in his career.

Other options: WR Jarvis Landry, WR Martavis Bryant, RB Carlos Hyde, RB DeMarco Murray.

2. Acquire more draft picks by moving a proven player.

Main Option... Trade RB Isaiah Crowell to the Dallas Cowboys: The Cowboys were in the market for a RB rental as Zeke is suspended yet again. Crowell is a free agent at the end of the year and the Browns have a more than capable core of young backs to take his spot in Duke Johnson and Matthew Dayes. Crowell might be on the way out and the Browns should have a run at PSU's electrifying Saquon Barkley in the draft. The Browns could have added to their draft pick stockpile by acquiring a 6th rounder and future 7th rounder.

Other option: WR Kenny Britt.
