Blue Collar News 9/25/2016

Last Sunday, September 18th, 2016, NWA Blue Collar Wrestling presented "The Great American Bash: Go For The Gold" at the Eagles North Portland FOE 3426 located at 7611 North Exeter Street in Portland, Oregon. Every match on the card was a title match. The show was in honor of Cameron Hollenbeck, a thirteen year old that died of cancer last month.

The opening match was for the BCW title. The champion, Petrov, defended against CJ Edwards. When Edwards came to the ring he dropped to his knees and placed his hands behind his head to be frisked by the referee. The champion skipped to the ring wearing his fairy wings and was accompanied to the ring by his partner Tommy Celcius and their pet guerilla. "Tommy sucks" and "Petrov sucks" chants were very popular with the crowd. Petrov attacked Edwards before the bell and beat him down before whipping him into the opposite turnbuckles. Edwards made a come back with his high flying offense capped off by a dive through the ropes to take out the champ on the outside of the ring. Edwards then utilized a ringside table for more offense bouncing the champ's head off it. Petrov made his come back with a power centered offense prompting the hot crowd to chant "fairy" at him. Edwards utilized his speed to take the upper hand but had his offense temporarily interrupted when he lept from the top rope into a drop kick by Petrov. Edwards regained the upper hand with a series of knees only to lose it again due to a drop kick to the face as he was kneeling on the mat. Neither that nor a sidewalk slam was enough to put the challenger away. Both men ended up perched on the turnbuckles exchanging fists. Edwards gained the advantage, shoving the champ to the mat, but as he was preparing to splash Petrov from the top rope he was shoved from behind by his former Mobb Inc. tag team partner, Demarcus James. James beat Edwards down after the match. Edwards will surely be looking for revenge in the near future. When I approached Petrov and asked about the new fairy gimmick he put me in my place. This is what he had to say. "No gimmick change. I'm just an odd individual. I had to make a statement. It's not about looks. It's about dominance. Mind games. If I'll go that far to get in ones head, no telling how far I'll go to get the win. I'm certified crazy. I don't have to look tough to be tough. I could whip the crap out of you while wearing a dress. Or with fairy wings and a wand. I can tell you right now, you do not want to be the man telling that story." I followed up by asking about why the attack on Edwards occurred. The champ replied, "No clue. Bell rings. Title is secure. Not my problem. I stay paid at a championship rate. My concerns lay with The Measure 11, making sure Tommy C and Petrov keep their motto alive... All wrongs reserved. If I had to guess who, I'd say Kevin Brandt sent Demarcus James."

The next match was a three way for the NWA Pacific Northwest TV Title featuring Tech-Tonik and Lance Dean challenging the champion, Cousin Jameson. The Role Models accompanied Teck-Tonik to the ring. Tonik and Dean had words before the bell while Jameson ran the ropes working up the crowd. Dean left the ring and distracted Tonick long enough for the TV champ to catch him with a drop kick before the bell. Jameson followed up with two more drop kicks to the face of Tonik in the corner. Jameson caught Dean with a drop toe hold and worked over his back before riding him like a pony around the ring. Tonik got back in the action with a vicious clothesline to the champ. Tonik tossed Dean out of the ring then hit Jameson with a suplex before going for a pin. Dean broke up the count then hit a famouser on Tonik before attempting his own pinfall. Jameson made the save but paid for it when Dean applied a Boston crab. Tonik broke the hold with a forearm, scoring a 2 count on Jameson and then hitting Dean with a running leg drop. Jameson broke up an attempted pinfall by Tonik. Jameson delivered forearms and boots to both of his opponents until Dean surprised him with a suplex and scored a 2 count. Dean choked

Jameson on the middle rope and Kevin Brandt, who accompanied Dean to the ring, slapped the champ in the face. Tonik tried to steal a pinfall but was immediately pulled off the cover by Dean. Jameson was back up and scored with a series of kicks to both men. With Dean and Tonik in opposite corners Jameson delivered a drop kick to Tonick and a splash to Dean repeatedly until Dean caught him offguard with a clothesline. Dean was caught offguard himself by a reverse choke slam by Tonik. All three men were down. The referee reached an 8 count before Dean got to his feet and hit a bulldog on Jameson. Tonik tried to steal the pin but was hit by an elbow drop by Dean. Dean applied a rear chancery to Tonik but Jameson makes a save before Tonik could tap. Jameson kicked Dean to the outside and then ducked a charging Tonik sending him over the top rope to the outside, too. The TV champ then ran the ropes, hitting both of his opponents with a dive through the ropes. After rolling Dean back into the ring Jameson scored a 2 count off of a DDT. Dean came back with an ax handle to the face, but was turned inside out by a Tonik clothesline. Tonik hit Jameson with shoulder thrusts in the corner and followed up with a perfect fisherman's suplex. But, Dean broke up the pinfall and hit a DDT to Tonik. Jameson with the save. Dean throws Jameson out of the ring but is caught by Tonik in a reverse attitude adjustment. Jameson takes advantage hitting Tonik while he was still down with a frog splash for the three count and retained the NWA Pacific Northwest TV Title.

The next match was for the NWA Heritage Championship. Lonestar defended the title against Demarcus James. Lonestar trained James to wrestle and stated, "I felt it was a hard fought match between teacher and student." Lonestar retained The title via pinfall following his patented super kick, the DD214. CJ Edwards came out and got some revenge on his former tag team partner, Demarcus James, for interfering in his BCW title match earlier in the night. When asked what's next the NWA Heritage champion, Lonestar, replied, "To continue to be the best I can be and to defend the NWA Heritage Championship as best I can."

The fourth match of the night was for the NWA Pacific Northwest Tag Team Titles. The champions, The Dark Asylum, defended against The Role Models (Tyson Lee & Ares Toretto) and retained the titles. The Dark Asylum consist of Big Vicious and "Wonderful" Zack Winters. Winters and Vicious reformed Wonderfully Vicious under the Dark Asylum banner to continue defending the tag titles after Vic's partner, The Darkness was injured. After the match Winters had this to say about his opponents. "Great performers in their own rights, me and Ares have gone toe to toe on more then one occasion, and still remains one of my favorite opponents to stand across the ring from. But probably bit off more then they could chew on that one night when they agreed to get in the ring with Wonderfully Vicious." Big Vicious of The Dark Asylum stated, "Tonight, the gates of The Dark Asylum opened and reunited Wonderfully Vicious to defeat The Role Models and stay the NWA PNW TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS.... what other surprises will The Dark Asylum have for us?"

In the semi-main event Tommy Celcius defended his NWA Pacific Northwest Heavyweight Title against the former champion, Buddy Highway. Highway has been training hard to expand his career into strongman competitions and has dropped a ton of weight while buffing up. Highway showed off his hard work and strength by regaining his title, winning by submission to a full nelson and becoming a two time champion.

In the first of two advertised main events NWA Pacific Northwest Women's Champion Sunni Daze defended the title in a triple threat match against rival Crashella and former NWA Women's world champion, Kaycee Carlisle. Carlisle has been ranked as high as #7 on Pro Wrestling Illustrated's PWI Female 50. Despite the high level of competition Daze retained the title by pinfall.

Finally, in the second of two advertised main events, we saw two of the best wrestlers in the region face off for the NWA Continental Heavyweight Title. The champion, Badd Blood, regularly appears in Oregon and California, as well as on NWA shows in Texas and Indiana. He is scheduled to appear in Georgia for NWA Georgia Wrestling Extreme on November 12th. His opponent, Kobra Kai, has held championship gold all over the indy circuit, appearing regularly in Las Vegas, Oregon, Washington, British Columbia and Alberta. On this particular night Badd Blood proved himself the better man with a pinfall victory to retain the title.
