MARTIN FUELS KWINGS PAST INDY

INDIANAOPLIS, IN - Kalamazoo suffered and tough lost at the hands of  Indianapolis thanks to Michael Neal's three goal performance propelling the fuel to a 6-5 win on Friday at Wings Event Center. The Kwings took their show on the road to face the Fuel on their home turf seeking payback at the Indiana Farmers Coliseum Saturday night

After neither side was able to score in period 1 as Kalamazoo 20 shots was stopped by goalie Eric Levine and Indy's 9 shots was turned away by goalie Joel Martin in period 1. Kalamazoo drew first blood in period 2 as Lane Scheidl fired the first shot heard around the arena for a score off the rebound and then in the final minutes of period 2 Cam Darcy got in on the action as he gets the lose puck off the scramble and puts it in top shelf giving the Kwings a 2-0 lead.

Kalamazoo kept attacking in period 3 as Josh Pitt and Scheidl worked together on a two-on-one advantage Scheidl scores in front of the net (assist by Pitt) for a 3-0 Kwings lead.

But the Fuel finally get on the board Six minutes later when Jake  Marchment puts in the puck on a second chance effort off the pad of Martin putting Indy just two goals short at 3-1.

Indy choose to try to stop Kalamazoo pulling their goalie for an extra attacker but to no avail the Kwings was not phased as Brian Hart out ran his man and slid in the puck avoiding a icing call for the empty netter. And 15 sec later the codigra, Veteran Tanner Sorenson crosses the Fuel zone to feed Pitt for the final nail in the coffin; a wrister over Indy's goalie Levine and Kalamazoo wins 5-1.

With the win Kalamazoo's goalie Joel Martin moves into fourth place on the ECHL scoring list.

Kalamazoo will now head home to host the Florida Everblades at Wings Event Center @ 7 pm.
