Phillies say goodbye to Ryan Howard
Ryan Howard never thought he would see the day that the team he played his entire MLB career for, turn their back on him once he was of no use to them anymore. Howard crushed 382 home runs for the Phillies organization since his rookie year in 2005, but the former NL MVP is a shell of himself and far from the player that led the Phillies to a world championship in 2008. This season by far is his worst ever as far as production as he is only hitting a mere .199 with 25 home runs and 59 runs batted in on the season.
Howard may be a fan favorite in Philly but GM Ruben Amaro told him 2 seasons ago the Phillies were better without him. Ryan still may have options at as 36-year-old first baseman even though it won't be in Philadelphia. Howard could finish his career in the American League and help a team in need of a DH, but that could even be a longshot for him. He has not batted above .230 since 2011.
