Q & A: Predictions for the 2016-2017 season

Here are just a couple of predictions heading into the new season and they're just my opinion so chime in below to debate it.

The 2016-2017 MVP will be________?

LeBron will be gunning for his 7th straight NBA Finals appearance
Aaron Doster-USA TODAY Sports

The MVP award will go to LeBron James because he is on a mission and winning last years title just added fuel to his fire. Steph Curry and Kevin Durant hurt each others chance to win, so I'll take Russell Westbrook to finish second.

Who wins 6th man award?

Gary A. Vasquez-USA TODAY Sports

I got to go with Jamal Crawford on this one, he is one of the better scoring guards of the bench and when he gets hot he can put some points on the board. He may have this award named after him when his career is done.

Most improved team goes to _______?

Brad Rempel-USA TODAY Sports

I'm going with the Timberwolves, their young nucleus is one of the more talented ones in the league. New coach Tom Thibodeau defensive mindset and their offensive talent gives this team a chance to finish over .500 this season.

Which team has the best chance to knock off the Cavs or Warriors?

Bob DeChiara-USA TODAY Sports

In the East the Cavs have an easy path but the only team that could test them would be the Celtics, Boston young energetic group has the right mentality of nothing to lose and coach Brad Stevens philosophy of teamwork makes them dangerous.

In the West, Golden State gained another star in Kevin Durant but lost depth on the bench. They will still be the team to beat but last years team was better in my opinion. They have two teams that could challenge them in the Spurs and Clippers. The western conference is much tougher so expect them to get roughed up before the Finals.

Who wins the NBA championship?

Cavs look to repeat after a long championship drought for the city of Cleveland.
Aaron Doster-USA TODAY Sports

I'm going with the champs even though the Warriors retooled their team. I agree Golden State will be one of the most talented teams in the history of the league but I can't buy into the hype simply because of the pressure on their shoulders to win. They also have to figure out who will get the most shots between sharp shooters Curry, Durant and Thompson which could cause tension on the court. It will be another great series for the third year in a row but after king James' Finals performance last season, it would be hard to top that.
