Any divisional game for a playoff contender is huge coming down the stretch of a long grueling season.  The heated rivalry that took place in Cincinnati proved to be crucial for the Pittsburgh Steelers in their quest to reach the postseason.  With the Steelers holding a 1 game lead on Baltimore in the division, winning in Cincy would keep them ahead in the division no matter the outcome Baltimore had against the Eagles.  For the Steelers, a win against CIncy and next week against Baltimore will guarantee them a spot in the playoffs and a division championship.

Steelers vs Bengals Recap

The Steelers got off to an awfully slow start in Cincinnati on Sunday trailing by as many as 14 points in the first half.  Offensively, Roethlisberger was able to push the team down the field but had to settle for field goals because of untimely penalties.  At the half, the Steelers trailed 20-9 but the defense stepped up and held the Benglas to zero points after the break.  Although the offense only manufactured 1 TD the whole game, it was a welcoming to see Chris Boswell go 6/6 on his field goals to lead the way for the Steelers.  The final ended up being 24-20 as the Steelers scored 15 unanswered points to seal the win.

What the win means for the Steelers going forward

With this win, the Steelers maintain a 1 game lead over the Ravens for first place in the AFC North.  With a tilt between the two rivals coming up on Christmas, it was nice to keep the momentum of a 4 game winning streak going.  If the Steelers want to win the division, beating the Ravens is a must.  With a loss, they will fall into second place in the division with a slim chance to win the division.
