Betting patterns have evolved on the Thursday college football betting portfolio. South Florida vs. South Carolina in the Birmingham Bowl, Arkansas vs. Virginia Tech in the Belk Bowl, and Oklahoma State vs. Colorado on the Valero Alamo Bowl help wind down football winnings on the third-to-last day of 2016. South Florida is a mammoth 10.5 up to an 11.5-point favorite to South Carolina. At -11.5 it is juiced to the underdog at -125 though. The total is anywhere from 60 to 61, so line shopping is imperative. The game opened at -11 and 63. In a surprise, 55 percent of against the spread wagers in this game are on the underdog Gamecocks. The total is an even split at 50-50.

Virginia Tech is laying seven-points to Arkansas, though -6.5 -120 and -7.5 at +110 can be had, so gamblers can shop around and pay less-than-usual to “buy the hook.” The total is as low as 60.5 and as high as 62 after debuting at 6.5 and 62. The public likes the underdog here too with 65 percent of gamblers on the Hogs, though the usual 74 percent on the over. Colorado is laying -2.5 -115 to -3 +102. Again, those who like to buy a half-point are much better checking all available options. The 62.5 total is across the board. Sixty percent of bets are on OSU and 74-of-100 on the over. “Underdogs have done very well so far, thus the public is abnormally betting on underdogs today.”

Per Mike Godsey of, underdogs are 18-6-1 so far in the bowl games and a very solid 10-15 straight up. There has been a slight edge to the under at 14-10-1 based on closing lines, but line shoppers have done very well with a few middles.
