Breaking News: Fears of a boycott on The Black Santa Company because founder Baron Davis is married to a white woman.

When I first heard about Baron Davis' new project, or The Black Santa Company, I must admit I rolled my eyes. Look, Santa is white. He lives in the North Pole. According to the average black people who naturally doubles as historians, we originated in Africa. We are a Tropical people. Right?? That's how I felt before I heard that The Mall of America in good ol' Minneapolis, Minnesota, home of our boy Philando Castille, hired it's first black Santa in 24 years; and Minnesotans acted a fool in the comment section of the Minneapolis Star. So much vitriol and hatred was aimed at Black Santa that the newspaper's website had to shut down their comment section. So go on with your bad self Black Santa. Do your thing. I also applaud Baron Davis for making a change in the world, however small and trivial it may seem. It's more than I'm doing. So when the former UCLA and Golden State Warrior stand out said, “With all that’s going on in this country, and particularly in the African-American community, I want to offer heroes and role models through storytelling. Black Santa is the first character. His mission is to celebrate diversity, the joy of giving and the magic of good. He’s here to bring people together and have fun. So while I may not be making moves on the basketball court now, The Black Santa Company is my new basketball", I couldn't hate.

This further proves my point that the most militant and active of the conscious black men are married to white women. You got Van Jones, Danny Glover, Louis Farrakhan Jr, John Legend and now Baron Davis. Men who stand for something and don't just talk about Pyramids and white supremacy all day. Obviously Baron and these other men have the backing of a loving and supportive wife or they wouldn't be able to accomplish such things. I did some research on Baron Davis and judging from his dating history it seems like all he ever wanted for Christmas was a white woman. So it will be interesting to see if African Americans put their money where their mouths are this holiday season? We always talk about boycotting the department stores until "the police stop killing our sons in the streets like dogs". All that spending our money in the black community talk.

Now with The Black Santa Company you all have a black owned and operated business selling themed baby clothes, sweaters, wrapping paper and Christmas ornaments. These products will feature a series of African American Christmas characters. Next to hit the market is black Mrs. Claus. Baron Davis added, “Kids can dream and look forward to having that opportunity to be something by having a character that looks like them, talks like them and that they can relate to. Also, someone that is popping around year-round, because if we can fill that same holiday spirit we have at Christmas throughout the year, that is going to allow opportunities to do more, see more and grow more.” Or will black women boycott this brother's business because he's married to a white woman?? Like they did to Nate Parker and his film about the life of Nat Turner and many others. I guess they give Michael Jordan a pass because he was married to Juanita for so many years before he ultimately married a white woman. It will be very interesting to see how Baron's Black Santa Company does at the check out counter this Christmas.
