PSG Season 2017-18 Preview SportStreaming24

PSG will hope the 2017/18 campaign is one for re-establishing themselves as the king of French football, and a truly dominant force in the Champions League. The French giants have been the talk of world football this summer, having secured the services of world star Neymar Jr for €220 – more than double the previous world record signing fee.

The French side, who until last season had won four consecutive Ligue 1 titles, fell short to Monaco, thanks to a youthful and vibrant side who lit up European football last season. Monaco – rather depressingly, have seen their exciting side ravaged, with their key star KylianMbappe possibly on his way to PSG.

PSG however care little for the fairy-tale stories of others, and have only one goal in mind – becoming a global brand in sports, on the same scale of Manchester United, Real Madrid and The New York Yankees.

Their owners – essentially the Qatari royal family – see PSG as an instrument of PR for their region of the world to the rest of the world. With such power, regardless of what other people may think, must now consider PSG as a force to be reckoned with in the global game.

Along with Neymar, PSG have acquired the services of Dani Alves from Juventus on a free transfer, illustrating their nous in the market, too. Alves will provide winning experience vital for the Champions League this season and lots of goals foundhttps://www.youtube.com/user/PSGofficiel

PSG have lost Maxwell, the Brazilian full-back, who previously played for FC Barcelona, as well as Jean-Kevin Augustin to Red Bull Leipzig. In general their squad has stayed the same, but injected supreme quality with the addition of Neymar.

Just as crucially has been the depletion of the Monaco squad. Already it seems their grip in the 2017-18 Ligue 1 title seems strong, even at the very beginning of the season. It is the Champions League where success will be judged. Anything less than a semi-final appearance will be disappointing for the club who broke the transfer record in such a devastating fashion.

Creative Germany international Julian Draxler should now have adapted to Ligue 1 after being given a brief taste following his January arrival, while manager Unai Emery now has another season to mould his tactics on the Parisian side.

With the stakes stratospheric for PSG their season will be one to keep a keen eye on, even if they are expected to blow away Monaco and the rest in Ligue 1.
