GEORGIA OUTLOOK

The end of the SEC season is going be thrilling, and this week is just the beginning. While Alabama faces Mississippi State, Georgia faces their own ranked SEC foe in Auburn. There has been much scrutiny as to why the Bulldogs are ranked first, and most of the AP think that the Tide should be higher. Resume > eye test all day people. Just because you look good even though you don't play great competition, doesn't mean you should be over someone who looks good but has a better resume. If we went by looks, UCF would be the top team in the nation right now, but apparently they mean nothing to the committee. Different topic for a different day.

Georgia's been outstanding so far, and their win over Notre Dame continues to get stronger with the Irish's success this season. Nick Chubb and Sony Michel continue to be impossible to stop, and Jake Fromm is getting things done at quarterback. Fromm continues to mostly be a game manager, and hasn't had to win a game with his arm yet. It's a testament to how talented this offense is that they could lose their starting quarterback, go to a freshman, and continue to roll. A dominant running game and supplemental passing game have done plenty to win games, but it's been the defense that has taken it's game to another level.

Kirby Smart is a defensive guy, so it should be no surprise that Georgia is this good defensively. Roquan Smith leads this group, and is one of the best linebackers in the country. It's tough to do anything against the Bulldogs, as they rank near the top of the nation in multiple statistical categories. And good luck scoring. Missouri scored 28 on this defense, but they still lost by 25. The next highest point total was 19 by the aforementioned Irish, and everything else has been lower than that. Even if the offense can't score for Georgia, neither can the other team. Pretty good safety net to have.

AUBURN OUTLOOK

Things did not look good for the Tigers after their 14-6 loss to Clemson. Jarrett Stidham was on the ground more than he was upright, and the offense didn't do much that night. But, somehow, this team is the tenth best team in the nation and in position to make a playoff run. Yes, a two loss team has a chance of making the playoff this year. Gus Malzahn has silenced any rumors about his job status by bringing his team this far.

Injuries have hurt the offense this year, but it seems that the running backs have at least coordinated their absences. It seems like Kerriyon Johnson and Kamryn Pettway have been hurt quite a bit, but rarely at the same time. Pettway is out for an undetermined amount of time with a shoulder injury now, so Johnson need to stay healthy. Malzahn has stated the a running back by committee approach will be used behind him, and that he's confident in those backs as well.

That loss to Clemson hasn't looked bad with their recent success, but the loss to LSU concerns me going into this one. Playing at home will be a tremendous advantage, and I think the Tigers are hoping that some of 2013's magic reemerges this year. Don't remember, here you go.

PREDICTION

This one's going to be a battle, and college football keeps producing games like this weekly. Which is awesome. The only question is which Auburn team comes to play. Is it the team that beat Mississippi State 49-10 or the team that squandered a lead and lost to LSU 27-23? That will determine how close this game is.

My pick: Georgia 28 Auburn 20
