WEEK 2 ARTICLES: WEEK 2 RECAP, CFP TEAMS, GOPHERS UPDATE, W3 PREVIEW

Welcome back to the Top 4 Group of 5 teams in college football. Just like the actual playoff, four teams are selected from the Group of 5 as if they had their own playoff. Not much changed after this past week, and these rankings will get more difficult once the conference games begin.

USF's game against UConn was originally moved up to 9:30am on Saturday, but was eventually canceled due to Hurricane Irma. There game against Illinois to being played as scheduled as of now, but that could change. Illinois is surprisingly 2-0 and stunned Western Kentucky last week, so the Bulls have a tough test on their hands.

Colorado State improved to 2-1 with a win over Abilene Christian, but you can expect them to drop in the standings after this week. The Rams head to Tuscaloosa to take on the #1 ranked Crimson Tide of Alabama. An upset might just shut down college football, but don't expect a complete beatdown either.

If I told you that Toledo played Elon and Nevada in their first two games, how many touchdowns would you expect quarterback Logan Woodside to throw? If you said at least seven, you would be in the majority but you would also be wrong. I you guessed two, something's wrong with you but you would be right. Woodside went 89:09 between touchdown passes, dating back to last year. The Rockets need his production more than ever this week, as they host Tulsa, who just put up 66 points against UL-Lafayette.

San Diego State joins the Top 4 for the first time this year, and the Aztecs are on quite a roll so far. Despite losing Donnel Pumphrey to graduation, SDSU has turned to Rashaad Penny in what seems to be a seamless transition. Penny has already rushed for 413 yards and three touchdowns in his first two games. Head coach Rocky Long also notched another win against a Power 5 opponent by beating Arizona State this past week. He might have to wait a little while before he gets the next one. Up next: #19 Stanford.

Boise State choked away a 31-10 lead to a team that didn't even have its starting quarterback in for the comeback. The Broncos went on to lose to Washington State in triple overtime 47-44. While the loss doesn't send them too far down the rankings, it might be easy to jump over them even if they keep winning. Houston is sixth after their win over Arizona. If you have heard by now, Cougars defensive tackle Ed Oliver is pretty damn good, and I'll argue that all day. Inconsistency on offense kept the game close, but Houston, like San Diego State, got another win against a Power 5 foe.
