2016 WWE Backlash Preview & Prediction

Since this is a "New Era" in the WWE, minus well have a new era in Sportsblog. From now on, I will be previewing WWE as well as other major wrestling shows that are on PPV or through a streaming service. WWE Backlash will be live this Sunday night from Richmond Virginia. Dean Ambrose, who was SmackDown's first pick in the 2016 WWE Draft, will defend the WWE World Championship against SmackDown's No. 2 pick in AJ Styles. Also, the SmackDown Women's Championship and Tag Team Championships will be on the line. Without further ado, here is my preview & prediction for Backlash.

WWE Intercontinental Championship-The Miz (C) vs. Dolph Ziggler: I said in my Wrestling Take blog last week that The Miz is one of the interesting characters right now in the WWE, and I don't see him losing the IC title anytime soon. Ziggler has become this character where he is losing big matches and helping his opponents look great in future development, and that will be the theme this coming Sunday. (The Miz Retain Intercontinental Championship)

Randy Orton vs. Bray Wyatt: It's becoming clear that the WWE is protecting Wyatt whether he wins or loses. He's becoming that character that will help his opponent get a win. Wyatt will be that guy this Sunday in helping Orton, who got the beating of a lifetime by Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam get a win. (Randy Orton)

WWE Tag Team Championship Tournament-The Usos/Hype Bros vs. Health Slater & Rhyno: If you saw on SmackDown Live this past Tuesday, Heath Slayer & Rhyno were supposed to take on American Alpha in the finals, but it was The Usos attacking American Alpha's Chad Gable after they lost in thirty seconds. Instead, The Usos will square off against the Hype Bros in the semifinals, with the winner of that match squaring off against Slater & Rhyno in the finals. With The Usos being heels, it sets them up to win the SmackDown Tag Team titles. However, if Slater wins, he gets that WWE contract that he has wanted since July, but I see him remaining as a free agent since the IWC likes the storyline. (The Usos Become SmackDown Tag Team Champion)

SmackDown Women's Championship Six-Pack Challenge: After returning from what could've been a career-ending neck injury, Nikki Bella is my favorite to become the first ever SmackDown Women's Champion. Alexa Bliss and Carmella are my bottom two to win that title since they haven't had a singles match on a PPV/Network Special. Naomi and Natalya are the veterans that could be a threat to Nikki, but Nikki's main rival comes from a Lass Kicker in Becky Lynch, who was the first women's wrestler to be drafted by the blue brand. (Nikki Bella Becomes SmackDown Women's Champion)

WWE World Championship-Dean Ambrose vs. AJ Styles: AJ Styles has been with the WWE for eight months, and is a top contender to become the 2016 Wrestler of the Year. Styles has had unsuccessful attempts at capturing the WWE World Heavyweight Championship after losing to Roman Reigns twice. But it was in the summer time when he defeated John Cena at Money in the Bank and SummerSlam to become that top player in the WWE. It's time for the WWE to put the title on him. Sure, I can see him winning the match clean since his brothers in the Club, oops I meant Bullet Club can't help him since they're on Raw. What concerns about the match is that Cena could interfere, which sets up another PPV match at No Mercy. I know that Cena hasn't appeared on WWE TV since his loss to AJ, but there is a chance he could show up in Richmond. (AJ Styles Becomes WWE World Heavyweight Champion)
