Barcelona vs. Deportivo La Coruna Preview & Prediction

Barcelona is in hard times, as they have been defeated yet again in La Liga before the World Cup break. This time, it was to Celta Vigo by a 4-3 margin and were down 3 goals in the first half. Lionel Messi was sidelined for the contest, and he will be inactive once again when they host Deportivo this Saturday. The hard times continue, as Neymar is doubtful alongside Sergio Roberto, who leads Barca in assist. The Blaugrana will be going into this match as a fourth place in the La Liga table with 2 points down from co-leaders Real and Atletico Madrid.

Things are not looking good for Deportivo La Coruna. The 2-1 win against Gijon on the seventh matchday is their second victory this season, with the previous coming on the first matchday of the new season. There will be a slight improvement in momentum, as they have now ended their five-match winless drought.

Prediction: If both Messi and Neymar are inactive, Deportivo can be the favorites to win this game. Deportivo might be winless at Camp Nou since 2003, but drawing three out of the last four games at the Camp Nou is a positive sign. Also, Barcelona is not that dominating team we see because of injuries to some of their marquee players. Suarez and Arda Turan will be the x-factor in this matchup with Messi and Neymar possibility sitting out. Based on series history, I believe Deportivo is going to play for the draw here, and if they lose this game, it will be a 1-0 goal advantage to the Blaugrana.

Winner: Barcelona
