Barcelona vs. Malaga Preview & Prediction

The Catalan powerhouse Barcelona will host Malaga to Camp Nou this Saturday afternoon, as they hope for a chance to dethrone Real Madrid and regain their top spot in the La Liga table.

Barcelona has an easier fixture this weekend compared to the other two teams that will have their Madrid Derby this weekend. The two Madrid teams will be squaring off against each other, while Villarreal squares off against Athletic Bilbao. Barcelona went into the international break with a 1-2 road win over Sevilla, with Messi and Suarez scoring for the Catalan giants. A victory in this contest will put them in first place if Real Madrid loses to Atletico the Madrid derby.

On the other hand, Malaga went back to their winning ways before the international break, as they defeated Sporting Gijon 3-2 at home. They have been in good form in recent weeks, except for the defeat against Atletico Madrid. Being that Barcelona has shown some weakness against smaller teams at home this season, getting a victory in this contest is an enormous task for Malaga if they keep focus and guard their defense properly.

Prediction: Having first place in mind, Barcelona need a win in this game. They are the better club and also will be playing at home. Though Luis Suarez will be inactive due to suspension, Iniesta and Vidal also make the inactive list due to injury. Messi and Neymar will leave their international break rivalries behind them and focus on getting Barcelona to first place. I am expecting a win for the Catalan club and also big games from Messi and Neymar.
