Liechtenstein vs. Italy Preview & Prediction
The World Cup qualification campaign gets tough for Liechtenstein, as they host Italy at the Rheinpark Stadion this Saturday night. To get a tie against one of the marquee teams in Europe will be a great achievement for Liechtenstein. This is certainly a tough task for the hosts but is there a huge victory on the cards in Saturday’s contest. We are going to find out.
Liechtenstein hasn't won a game in 2016, they have lost six of their seven games and drawn one. Their conceding rate is on a high note, they have let in twelve goals in this qualifying campaign and scored just one goal. Liechtenstein’s worst defeat this qualifying campaign was the opening matchup against Spain in an 8-0 defeat.
Italy has been superb in the qualifying campaign, they have drawn one time and won twice in the first three games. They will enter the game with a lot of confidence despite playing on the road, and a victory is a lock for them. Also, Italy hasn't lost qualifying games since a since 3-1 defeat to France 10 years ago. The streak now sits at 53, with 39 victories and 14 draws.
Prediction: There are no doubts that Italy will earn a victory this Saturday against Liechtenstein. Meanwhile, Liechtenstein will be eager to avoid another loss like they saw in an 8-0 defeat against Spain on the opening matchday. Italy has scored three goals in their two away matches in the qualifying campaign. They are expected to score more points here while keeping a clean sheet.
