For the second time this season, both Manchester teams will square off in the 2016/17 soccer season in England when the Red Devils face off against the Citizens for the League Cup Wednesday afternoon or night. The sides will be playing at Old Trafford for the second time this season and will be going into this derby after some mediocre performance in their last four games.

Manchester United suffered a devastating 4-0 defeat at the hands of Chelsea on Sunday. The Red Devils saw their six games unbeaten streak end in Jose Mourinho’s return to Stamford Bridge. United defeated Northampton 3-1 to advance to the Round of 16.

Manchester City played a 1-1 draw with Southampton on Saturday and extended their winless streak to five games in all competitions. The Citizens will be going into this matchup with less confidence. A shambolic defense and an unproductive attack line constitute the major issues for Pep Guardiola going into this contest. City defeated Swansea 2-1 to make it to the Round of 16.

Prediction: These two sides are in dire need of a victory considering poor result in the last few games. Both Manchester teams have been less convincing and have mediocre in the young season. Therefore, this will be a battle between two teams in an electrifying atmosphere in millions of fans watching around the world. However, Mourinho will be looking for revenge after the Citizens defeated the Red Devils at home last month. Mourinho is also looking for revenge after the 4-0 beatdown by Chelsea. But they did show some signs of brilliance in home fixtures this season. The morale is certainly low for the Citizens and United look good to grab a win here.
