At the revival of WWE Backlash, new storylines await after Summerslam, with fresh feuds. At Summerslam, Dean Ambrose successfully defended his WWE World Heavyweight Championship against Dolph Ziggler. AJ Styles' is on the rise after defeating John Cena in a Match of the Year contender. But the big question is, what will happen to John Cena? Will John Cena take another leave of absence? Well, according to reports, FOX recently renewed American Grit for a second season. Could be the end of Cena's full-time career in the WWE? Time will tell.

Kalisto vs. Baron Corbin: During the Road to SummerSlam, Corbin made a statement saying that he wants to torture Kalisto. He's been attacking the high-flying luchador several times, hence setting up a big man vs. small man match. But it was on the SummerSlam preshow that Corbin continued his attack by saying that Corbin was a coward. Expect a feud between those two in the coming weeks. The goal for WWE Creative is for them to showcase Corbin after his win in the 2016 Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal.

American Alpha vs. The Usos (WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championships): The tag team division is on fire when it comes to SmackDown live. At SummerSlam, the whole tag team division got a showcase match, with American Alpha as the MVP. I'm not surprised by that. They have been the top tag team in the division since the draft. I believe that WWE is high on them. My guess is that they get a tag team title shot. But who faces them? Well, The Vaudevillains, Breezango, and The Ascension are the bottom-tier teams in the division. If I were working for WWE Creative, The Usos would deserve that opportunity. And the reason why. Because the seeds were planted on a future match at SummerSlam. WWE will guarantee us of a dark horse match of the night with the high-flyers vs. the technical tag team.

Nikki Bella vs. Naomi vs. Carmella vs. Becky Lynch (SmackDown Women's Championship): The women need a championship on SmackDown live. Eva Marie was a contender for the championship, but she was another name that got suspended for 30 days due to the Wellness Policy. Meanwhile, Nikki Bella made her return and is now in strong contention to win a title. Nikki helped Alexa Bliss and Natalya defeat the team of Lynch, Naomi, and Carmella. This was her first match since having surgery on her neck this past year. WWE has always wanted to showcase Bella. That won't change in this New Era. A Fatal Four Way allows the participants to feud with each other in these next three weeks. This match lets the WWE lean on the new and old women's wrestlers to square off against each other.

Bray Wyatt vs. Randy Orton: Randy Orton survived a beating by Brock Lesnar. The Beast could be in really big trouble with how the match ended with blood and a brawl with Chris Jericho backstage, but there was a crazy rumor that Orton was suspended for 60 days violating the WWE Wellness Policy. We can put those rumors to rest. Meanwhile, Wyatt needs a storyline to put as a future main eventer, and it makes sense to put Orton in a match against him. WWE wants to push Wyatt despite not having him on the SummerSlam card. Wyatt was a strong contender to get a title shot, by playing mind games with Ziggler. A feud with Orton gives Wyatt momentum to chase for Ambrose's championship.

Dean Ambrose (C) vs. AJ Styles (WWE World Heavyweight Championship) AJ got the victory he deserved by defeating John Cena. AJ now can put on his resume that he beat Cena. And for the record, he did it in what is right now my MOTY. He is connecting with the WWE Universe. But what AJ needs is that WWE World Heavyweight Championship. But, it was Ambrose successfully defending his WWE World Heavyweight Championship against Dolph Ziggler. Sure, WWE can give Ziggler another chance to continue his feud with Ambrose, but Styles' stock is at an all-time high. Where does this put Ziggler? For one, Ziggler can start his heel turn. However, I see him feuding with the returning Curt Hawkins. Now when it comes to the main event for Backlash, AJ and Ambrose can start what is the first of what will be great matches on the blue brand. Summerslam planted the seeds for that feud. And now it's time for the WWE to go all in on it. This, my friends, could be another MOTY contender.

Other Matches: The Miz (C) vs. Apollo Crews (WWE Intercontinental Championship)
