Slovenia vs. England Preview & Prediction

Slovenia bounced back with a 1-0 win against Slovakia after playing a trap game in their first 2018 World Cup qualifiers. A goal in the second half from Rok Kronaveter was enough to give Slovenia three points. The only disappointment in qualification thus far has been a 2-2 draw by Lithuania on opening day. What's interesting is that all three goals scored by Slovenia have come in the second half.

England was average in their 2-0 victory against Malta. Daniel Sturridge and Dele Alli scored in the first half to cap England's consecutive win in all major qualification competitions (Euro and World Cup). Their first match of the World Cup campaign was against Slovakia, in which Adam Lallana was the hero with a late goal with time expiring on the clock to save the game for the Three Lions.

England tops Group F with six points in their first two matches. Slovenia and Scotland are tied with four points. Lithuania is currently in fourth place with 2 points, and Slovakia and Malta are yet to get any points.

Prediction: England has created plenty of scoring chances in each of their two games qualification. But poor finishing and bad luck have prevented them from scoring more goals. This is a bad sign, and we can expect the floodgates to open against a Slovakia team that the Three Lions has beaten in their last four matches. However, England is a side that has done exceptionally well in qualification tournaments like the Euro and is continuing their impressive run in the World Cup qualification.

Winner: England
