Southampton vs. Liverpool Preview & Prediction

Southampton was on a decent stretch in between after picking up 11 points in what could've been a possible 15 points. However, they are dealt with back-to-back losses in their last two fixtures, which pushed them once again towards the bottom three. The home defeat against Chelsea on matchday 9 wasn't surprising, but the 2-1 defeat to Hull City was unexpected. Southampton is currently 10th in the Premier League with 13 points.

Meanwhile, Liverpool is getting better and better as the week progresses. They defeated Watford by scoring six goals in their last Premier League match. The Reds are currently in first place with 26 points, however, Chelsea, Manchester City and Arsenal are trailing with a 2 point gap. Jurgen Klopp’s squad has scored ten goals in the last two games alone and are also the highest goal scoring team in the Premier League with 30 goals.

Prediction: Southampton is normally a good team while playing at home, but the only blemish is that 2-0 defeat against Chelsea being their only loss at home this season. Also, it is worth noting that they were only beaten twice in the last 15 games on home-field in the Premier League with ten games ending in victories. However, Southampton hasn't had much success against Liverpool in recent games, and this could be an incredibly difficult fixture for them with the Reds coming as the leading goal scorers in the Premier League. Liverpool is arguably the best team in the Premier League at this moment. And therefore, my pick for this fixture is a win for Liverpool.
