For basketball fans, the best place to get stats is Basketball-Reference.com. It's a great resource site for all your basketball needs. What I like about the site is that it gives us basketball fans an element to view what milestones can be achieved this coming season. Which milestone do I think is going to happen when the season resumes next month? I'll talk about that right now.

The milestone I see happening this season is Dirk Nowitzki being a top 5 career shooter. Nowitzki is considered as one of the greatest jump shooters in the NBA. He has the skill to leave the paint on offense. Nowitzki currently has 29,491 career points and is likely going to reach 30,000 this season. That number will put him at No. 5 in the all-time scoring category.

In his Hall of Fame career, Nowitzki has scored over 2,000 points in a season five times. The last time Nowitzki scored 2,000 points was in the 2009/10 season. If he does reach this milestone, Nowitzki will surpass Wilt Chamberlain for No. 5 on that list.
