Bucs release depth chart

As NFL training camps continue into the dog days of summer and the first pre-season games just around the corner, teams are releasing their first depth charts. Today the Buccaneers released their first depth chart and there are really no surprises.

Doug Martin is No. 1 on the chart at RB with Jacquizz Rodgers and Charles Sims as 1B. Kind of mildly surprised that Martin would be No. 1 on the depth chart even though he will miss the first three games of the season serving his suspension. Just last week Jason Licht spoke about Martin saying that there where no guarantees that Martin will be the starter when he returns.

Noah Spence is the No. 2 defensive end behind Robert Ayers JR. At LB Davonte Bond is the starter opposite Lavonte David. Kendall Beckwith the rookie from LSU is pushing Bond hard and I expect him to be the starter at some point this season.

At DB where some of the most competition is happening especially at the safety position, Vernon Hargraves and Brent Grimes are firmly entrenched as the starters at CB. Right now Chris Conte and Keith Tandy are the starters at safety, but rookie Justin Evans and JJ Wilcox picked up from Dallas in the off-season are pushing hard for a starting job.

The battle in the kicking game continues as it seems neither Nick Folk or Roberto Aguayo wants to take control of the job. Both Kickers missed multiple FG attempts within 50 yards in practice today and Coach Koetter expressed his dissapointment with the kickers today in his post practice comments. This is one battle that I feel will go down to the last cut unless someone takes control real quick.

--Best rookies of camp so far. On defense LB Kendall Beckwith. On offense WR Chris Godwin.

Koetter said today that the starters will see limited action in Cincinnati on Friday night. Also look for anyone that is healthy to see some playing time. I would think Ryan Fitzpatrick will get the majority of snaps at QB, with Ryan Griffin the last QB to see action.
