Memphis, TN – In what was supposed to be a matchup of the NBA’s top two teams, turned into a blowout on Tuesday night, as the Memphis Grizzlies (10-1) improved their home winning streak to 20 – cruising to a 119-93 over the Houston Rockets.

Houston, coming off back-to-back games, just didn’t seemed to not have it tonight. Meanwhile, Memphis may have answered the critics. Not only off to a hot start, the Griz were looking to prove to the league that they’re record wasn’t just an aberration. Having a 16-point advantage at the end of the first quarter, and then building that to 23 by halftime. These Grizzlies looked for real early as they held a usual potent Houston offense to under 40 percent shooting in the first half and also having a lead as big as 36 at one point in the game.

“I thought we came out aggressive tonight,” said Mike Conley, the Grizzlies starting point guard. “Defensively, we played about as good as you can play against a very good team. And I’m just happy that we played good for four quarters.”

Conley led a solid group of seven Grizzlies in double figures with 19 points, six assists and two assists – in 23 minutes. Guard Courtney Lee continued his sharp shooting – going 3-for-4 from three point range, en route to 16 points. Memphis’ bench, usually inadequate so far this season, scored 56 points – with three reserves, Jon Leuer, Beno Udirih and Quincy Pondexter each scoring 13 points apiece.
