NFL Week 5 Power Rankings - Who's Putting Their Best Foote Forward?

Week 4 is in the books! What a crazy year so far in the NFL. Who would have thought the Bills and Rams would be leading their divisions this far into the year? Who saw the 4-0 Chiefs looking this good? Who saw the defending champs at 2-2 after 4 games? So many questions need to be answered, let's see where each team ranks in the Week 5 NFL Power Rankings!

32: Cleveland Browns (LW: 32) 0

The Browns have a chance to move up a spot or two this week as they host the Jets, but let's talk about last week. DeShone Kizer threw for 118 yards and an interception. This is not what the Browns want to see out of the rookie. Kizer is going to experience growing pains, and this team is going to struggle as a result. Jets vs. Browns is not a premiere matchup to watch this week, to say the least...

31: Indianapolis Colts (LW: 30) -1

The Colts looked good in the first half against the Seahawks, then everything went downhill. The Seahawks scored 22 and 14 points in the third and fourth quarters, respectively. Any team that allows 36 points in a HALF is not going to win. The Colts are lucky to have only dropped one spot.

30: San Francisco 49ers (LW: 31) +1

Speaking of the Colts, let's take a peek at their opponent this week: the 49ers. The winner of this game will likely remain one spot above the other in the bottom of these Power Rankings. San Francisco is due for a win. They hung in there with the Cardinals until this guy made another classic catch:

Poor SF. Maybe they'll get in the win column against the Colts. Hopefully.

29: Miami Dolphins (LW: 27) -2

I had the Dolphins as my sleeper team going into the season. My logic: Jay Cutler is an improvement over Ryan Tannehill, right? Right? Wrong. Wrong, wrong, wrong. Smokin' Jay has me on the fence about believing in him. Back to back shutouts, one of them against one of the worst defenses in the league.

28: Los Angeles Chargers (LW: 28) 0

Poor LA. Probably the best 0-4 team I've ever seen. Such bad luck, but such grit. They hung in there against the Eagles but without a win, I can't move them up any spots. Maybe next week, Phillip. He actually sums up the season pretty well for the team:

27: New York Giants (LW: 25) -2

One of these two teams has to win when the Giants host LA on Sunday. One of them will leave 1-4, barring a tie (which wouldn't surprise me at this point). Another close game for Eli, another loss after last week's action. This team is so talented on the offensive side of the ball, but can't find a way to win games. Only one team under the current format has made the playoffs after starting 0-4. No, Eli: there's not a chance.

26: Chicago Bears (LW: 24) -2

What did you expect? Back to back upsets by the Bears? No. The only positive thing coming out of this game vs. Green Bay is that Mitchell Trubisky is going to get the nod at QB next week for the Bears on national television. Maybe that's a bad thing? All I know is the Bears have a long season ahead of them.

25: New York Jets (LW: 26) +1

J-E-T-S, J-E-T-S, JETS JETS JETS! Hold your horses. Another surprising performance out of the Jets, but let's keep in mind that they almost blew the game to Blake Bortles. Blake isn't exactly known for being "Mr. Ice" in the fourth quarter. I'll move them up a spot for the win, though.

24: Cincinnati Bengals (LW: 29) +5

Big win for the Bengals. What appeared to be such a grim season is still looking rough, but Andy Dalton is starting to regain my faith. Cincinnati shouldn't be as bad as the worst 5-7 teams, so they get some breathing room this week. If they can upset the Cinderella story Bills, expect a leap above the 20 mark for this squad.

23: Arizona Cardinals (LW: 23) 0

This team makes me uneasy. They won the game (see tweet of Fitzgerald above), but it wasn't pretty. They almost lost to a team who hasn't won a game yet this year. Not promising, yet this team still finds themselves 2-2. A road matchup with the Eagles this week will be a big indicator of where Arizona will stand in next week's rankings.

22: Jacksonville Jaguars (LW: 17) -5

They lost to the Jets. Promising offense late in the game, but they lost to the Jets. Enough said.

21: Baltimore Ravens (LW: 21) 0

The Ravens somehow find themselves in the same spot of the rankings after back-to-back beatdowns at the hands of the Jaguars and Steelers. If Oakland can beat them with EJ Manuel at the helm, the Ravens should take several steps back in the Week 6 rankings.

20: Oakland Raiders (LW: 9) -11

I didn't want to do this to such a promising team, but I have to. Not only has Oakland lost back-to-back games, but QB Derek Carr has a spinal fracture and could miss anywhere from 2-6 weeks. Not good for a Raiders team who has the Chiefs and Bills on the docket within the next month.

19: Tennessee Titans (LW: 5) -14

Another squad I didn't want to do this to, but I have to. Marcus Mariota is day-to-day with a hamstring injury. The possibility of Matt Cassel starting at QB for you guarantees a low ranking. Look at this, too:

18: Tampa Bay Buccaneers (LW: 18) 0

Tampa doesn't look bad, but they don't look legit, either. Due to the parity of the league so far, the Bucs neither move up nor down this week. With New England coming to town this Thursday, expect a change in the rankings next week.

17: Dallas Cowboys (LW: 12) -5

The Cowboys will bounce back from a tough loss to the Rams but for now, a 5-spot drop seems appropriate. The Rams were conducting a fantastic offensive attack Sunday and the Cowboys' defense couldn't do anything to stop it. This team will perform as their QB does.

16: Minnesota Vikings (LW: 6) -10

Minnesota not only lost the game to Detroit, but they lost star rookie running back Dalvin Cook for the season due to a torn ACL. He's such an integral part of the offense and until Minnesota gets a QB back (Bradford or Bridgewater), right in the middle of the pack seems fair.

15: New Orleans Saints (LW: 20) +5

The Saints needed this win. The Falcons lost, so the Saints find themselves just a game back in what wasn't supposed to be a competitive division this season. The defense held Jay Cutler and the Dolphins offense to zero points in London. Yes, the Saints defense pitched a shutout. I don't think we should be getting used to this, but the Saints have a reason to go into the bye week on a positive note.

14: Seattle Seahawks (LW: 16) +2

The Seahawks came alive! The Offensive Line still scares the living daylight out of me, but any time you hang 36 on someone in one half, you deserve to move up a spot or two.

13: New England Patriots (LW: 3) -9

Tough, tough loss for the Pats. Tom Brady almost pulled a rabbit out of his hat again, but not quite. Here's how the Patriots lost on Sunday:

Graham Gano. What a guy. Sorry, Thomas Edward Brady Jr.

12: Washington Redskins (LW: 10) -2

The Redskins have to move down two spots after losing to the Chiefs, but they have every reason to hold their heads high. If you can lose four members of your secondary to injury and keep the game close the entire way against the hottest team in the NFL, you deserve props. Hats off to Jay Gruden and his 'Skins.

11: Carolina Panthers (LW: 22) +11

MVP CAM IS BACK! MVP CAM IS BACK! MVP CAM IS BACK?

I certainly hope so. He makes this team so much more fun to watch. 3-1 isn't a bad spot for a Panthers team who has been deemed as "struggling" to start the year. If they can win 3 games while struggling, imagine the rest of the season with a dynamic Cam Newton back.

10: Houston Texans (LW: 19) +9

BIG BIG BIG win for Houston on Sunday. I had the Titans beating them, but the complete opposite happened. DeShaun Watson is the real deal. 57 points and 5 total touchdowns (tying the rookie record) is about as good as it gets. One of the best performances I've seen from a rookie in awhile; back-to-back great performances for Watson. Big test this Sunday night at home against Kansas City

9: Denver Broncos (LW: 11) +2

Denver looked relatively good this week against Oakland. I'm still not sold on Trevor Siemian, but this running game/defense is enough to keep the Broncos in a lot of games. A lot of them.

8: Pittsburgh Steelers (LW: 14) +6

3-1 is about as good as expected for this team. They've looked flat in two games and looked dominant in two. Expect more of the latter as the season progresses.

7: Los Angeles Rams (LW: 13) +6

I love this team. They're so much fun to watch when this offense is rolling on all cylinders (all season thus far). Imagine how much fun they'll be to watch once the defense lives up to its potential. I can watch this all year:

6: Buffalo Bills (LW: 15) +9

Are the Bills legit? It's hard to argue that they're not. Their defense has allowed just 54 points in four games, two of them against Denver and Atlanta (regarded as Super Bowl contenders by many) so why not consider them legit? For this week, I'll do it!

5: Green Bay Packers (LW: 8) +3

This is the Packers team we've all been waiting for this season. Wire-to-wire win for the Pack. Aaron Rodgers looked good, the defense played great against a bad offense. Great game overall for Green Bay. A matchup with the Cowboys this week will help them either solidify their performance or make it look like a fluke.

4: Atlanta Falcons (LW: 2) -2

The Falcons lost both of their starting wide receivers and lost a close game to a good Bills team. I'm not too worried about them. As long as Matt Ryan plays well, this team will be just fine. Definitely still a top-5 team.

3: Philadelphia Eagles (LW: 7) +4

This Eagles team is no joke. Carson Wentz was already looking impressive this year, and now LeGarrette Blount is rushing for over 100 yards? 214 rushing yards for this team against the Chargers. Close win, but no reason to be less confident in this team than last week.

2: Detroit Lions (LW: 4) +2

The Lions very well could be 4-0. So, so, so close to beating the Falcons. They're gritty, they can play defense well enough and they can throw the ball with the best of them. Oh, I forgot, they can run the ball now. The Lions are legit.

1: Kansas City Chiefs (LW: 1) 0

This team finds a different way to win each week. They're competitive, tough and at times, dominant. Kareem Hunt leads the NFL in rushing, even if you only list his stats in the second half of games. That's insane. If their QB Alex Smith keeps playing like this, KC will remain in the top spot:

Here's a bonus highlight reel from Smith so far this season:

I hope you all have enjoyed reading this week's rankings. Let's hope for another exciting week of football!
