NFL Fantasy: Week 8 Waiver Wire Targets

We're right in the thick of bye weeks heading into week 8. With the waiver wire being picked clean over the previous 7 weeks, it will be that much harder finding a viable option to fill a spot left open by a player on a bye. If any of the players listed below are on your waiver wire, I'd suggest putting a claim in right away.

Jacquizz Rodgers, RB, jacquizz rodger- Once Doug Martin went down with a hamstring injury it was unsure if there would be a lead back or if Bucs coach Dirk Koetter would go with a committee. It's clear now that Rodgers is the guy, he has yet to score a touchdown this year but has racked up 255 yards on the ground on 56 attempts. With that heavy workload he's bound to find the endzone sooner than later. The Bucs face two weak rush defenses in Oakland and Atlanta in the coming weeks so grab Rodgers off the waiver wire and start him with confidence until Martin returns. Chris Thompson, RB, Redskins - After a rough day by Redskins starter Matt Jones who coughed the ball up once and teamed up with Kirk Cousins in a botched handoff to cause another turnover. Thompson saw an increase in work load and turned 12 attempts into 73 yards. It's unlikely he'll see a massive role change, but after his performance Sunday it wouldn't be surprising to see him get 10-15 touches. (Owned in 12% of Yahoo Leagues)

Tyrell Williams, WR, Chargers - Still the top option for Chargers QB Phillip Rivers, Williams turned 10 targets into seven receptions and 140 yards. Not much more to say about him, it's rare to find a lead wideout on the waiver wire this late in a season so if he's still available in your league, get your claim in now. Mike Gillislee, RB, Bills -  With LeSean McCoy injuring his hamstring during practice last week, it looked like Gillislee would start the game in his place. However, that wasn't the case, McCoy started and more or less laboured through the game. If he re-injured his hamstring any further, McCoy could be set to miss a couple weeks which would severely increase Gillislee's value going forward. Putting in a claim for him this week could be a great move if McCoy does end up missing time. (Owned in 51% of Yahoo Leagues)
