Today, Zion Williamson announced his commitment to play at Duke University. This is a surprise to many people as 247 sports's crystal ball prediction thought that his top 3 schools were Clemson, Kentucky, South Carolina, or UNC and that he was going to be playing for the Tigers next year. Zion was ranked as the 2nd best recruit according to the ESPN 100. Zion's commitment gives Duke the top 3 players in the 2018 recruiting class (#1 R.J. Barrett, #2 Zion Williamson, #3 Cam Reddish). This is the first time in history that a coach has gotten the top 3 players in a recruiting class. They also have recruited tenth ranked Tre Jones. This recruited is much needed for Coach K as he could possibly lose his entire starting lineup this year including star player Marvin Bagley III. This is the 2nd year in a row that Duke has landed 4 top ten recruits, showing that Coach K has not only been able to adjust to the new one and done recruiting era, but has thrived in this new system. The Blue Devils now look like title favorites heading into next year, as the last time Coach K had this good of a recruiting class (Tyus Jones, Jahlil Okafor, Justice Winslow) they won a national championship in their only year at Duke.
