Lebron admits to chasing Jordan

After ending a 52-year championship for his hometown and overcoming a 3-1 deficit against the best regular-season team of all-time, Lebron James still is not satisfied. And why should he be?

It's tough to find another athlete who has been as scrutinized as Lebron. After leaving Cleveland to chase titles in Miami, Lebron immediately became the NBA's best villain.

Now, that title is possibly off of his shoulders thanks to Kevin Durant. So if he is no longer the villain, what is he trying to be?

"If I can ever put myself in position to be the greatest player ever, that would be something extraordinary." - Lebron James

That title currently is held by Michael Jordan, and Lebron knows.

Since being drafted out of high school in 2003, Lebron has been compared to MJ. Lebron wants to be better than MJ, and recently discussed his motivation in an interview with Sports Illustrated.

"My motivation is the ghost I'm chasing. The ghost that played in Chicago." - Lebron James

Can he overtake Jordan for the status of "best ever"?

At age 31, Jordan was 3-0 in the NBA Finals compared to Lebron's 3-4. Lebron currently has 4 MVP's compared to Jordan's 3 at this age.

However, Jordan won three more titles before retiring. Can Lebron win three more titles with the Golden State Warriors forming a super team?

Lebron's ability to take down the super team will directly affect his legacy, and if he can take them down multiple times, more people will be willing to accept Lebron has the best of all-time.

People from Jordan's era will always side with him, respectfully, due to his clutch play and his defensive ability. On top of that, Jordan averages over 30 points per game in an era where scoring was much more difficult than it is now.

I'm not ready to put Lebron ahead of Jordan anytime soon. But, if he can defeat the super team that is the Golden State Warriors multiple times, he will have a great case to go down as the best ever.
