The two contenders that won the trade deadline

We can talk about the Yankees and the prospects they brought in at another time. Today, let's take a look at which contenders won the trade deadline in each league.

Winners: Texas Rangers, Los Angeles Dodgers

The Rangers weren't able to add a starting pitcher, but they brought in Carlos Beltran and Jonothan Lucroy. In Beltran, they find a switch-hitter who found the fountain of youth this season. At 39, Beltran is hitting .304 with 22 home runs and 64 RBI.

Lucroy, an all-star this season, was brought over from Milwaukee. He is hitting .300 on the season with 13 home-runs and is considered to be one of the best catchers in the game.

The best part about the Rangers trades? They didn't lose one of their top prospects in Joey Gallo. The Rangers used this trade deadline to make one of the leagues best offenses even better.

Many Dodgers fans will not be pleased that the team failed to get an ace like Chris Sale and settled for Rich Hill. On top of Hill, the Dodgers received Josh Reddick from the A's. I think Reddick will be a bright spot, and provide hitting to an outfield in desperate need of it.

Hitting .296 on the season, Reddick has been hitting the ball well lately with an average of .323 in his last nine games before being traded. He has also had a power surge, hitting two home runs in the last seven games.

Hill is 9-3 on the season with a 2.25 ERA, and should help provide pitching depth once Clayton Kershaw returns.
