Facts After the Match: DCvNYC

Apologies for being a bit late on the day. I was travelling back crosstown from the match. There are problems with the Orange Line, I had to transfer to a shuttle bus...it took a bit. But even with all that time in transit, I still couldn't get over this loss. I have yet to see NYCFC win a match live at a stadium. Three games, three losses. I should ban myself from going again...

What should we know after the unfruitful loss at RFK?

1. To the table: NYCFC remain second in the East and fourth in the league with 51 points (14W-9D-10L), three points behind Red Bull and one point in front of Toronto. Goal difference is +2. However, NYCFC keeps the title of MLS Road Warriors, leading the league with 24 away points. Toronto is second in that with 23. May not mean anything now, but for two-legged playoff fixtures, road games might be our strength.

2. Yes, the one loss sent DC into the playoffs, but NYCFC still win the season series against DC, going 2W-0D-1L.

3. All eight shots on target were saved by Hamid. But Villa did get his 22nd goal from the spot. However, Villa remains second in the Golden Boot Race, because Wright-Phillips scored twice against Columbus.

4. whoscored.com reports Hernandez and Brillant tied for best NYCFC player, at 7.6. David Villa scored 7.3, and Diego Martinez scored 7.0 while only playing in the second half, also my honourable mention.

5. inonit.com says no chance for first in the East, but a 75.16% chance of placing second. NYCFC also fell back in the Supporters' Shield race. Champion's League is still in reach, with 50.12% of a possible appearance in the continental competition.

If you have any more, let me know in the comments.

Chin up, fam! NYCFC could still do some good stuff next week against Columbus at home. Better is coming!
