My First Take on the XFL
Ok so before we begin on this I just want to say that My XFL team is the DC Defenders and that was before the season started mainly because I have two teams close-ish to me. One is New York and the other is DC. I am from New England so I wouldn't ever root for a New York team even if it was the last team possible.
I love this league. I think this league is really refreshing to the game of football and is actually fun to watch. I love to see guys like Cardale Jones suit up and get another chance to play. I especially love the mic'd up refs and review booth. Gives you an insight of what their decision is and how they make it, something the NFL should think of when it comes to calling catches or not. The very minimal penalties and the shorter play clock keeps things at a fast pace. Them having the spread and over/under helps gamblers like yours truly remember the bad decisions I made, and they support my habits more than my family by tweeting them out. Speaking of tweets, their twitter accounts trash talk is pure electric as well and I recommend checking them out.
I do wish they didn't interview people so much on the sidelines, but it isn't a deal breaker for me personally. I have seen many people complain about it, but it is their second week of their first season so I'll cut them some slack for that.
The games have been very good so far and very fun to watch especially with great talent like PJ Walker for Houston, who reminds me of the XFL version of Lamar Jackson in week 1. I wouldn't say that the talent is out of this world, but its more exciting to me than pre season NFL games that show the second string vs the second string, and honestly more exciting than a game between Cincinnati and Cleveland mid season.
I know the season is early and I started out by saying they are my team, but I truly think, through week 1 and part of week 2, the DC Defenders are my favorite to win it all with Houston at a close second.
