Scott Hall should have been a World Champion

Scott Hall has been apart of some of the biggest moments in professional wrestling, the most notable the moment he invaded WCW and the then formation of the nWo. Before that as Razor Ramon he was involved in one of the first ladder matches in the WWE when he battled Shawn Michaels over the Intercontinental Title.

The Monday Night Wars was where a new batch of wrestling fans got to see Scott Hall, and Kevin Nash shine the most, and some would say they also helped the demise of WCW. Hall and Nash would return to the WWE as the nWo though Hall’s participation was only brief.

Hall has worked TNA, he also wrestled one match in ECW, in his time though he never won the World Heavyweight Title in a major wrestling company. He claimed the USWA United World Heavyweight Title Belt, but he has never been able to capture the belt in either WCW, or the WWE in his career.

He has held many World Tag Team Titles, he has even won many single belts in WCW, AWA, USWA, TNA, WWE, WWC, DDT Pro-Wrestling. He has also won many other awards along the way in a wrestling career that has spanned almost 30 years.

In WCW alone he wore the WCW Tag Team Titles 7 times of those seven times six of them were with Kevin Nash and once was with The Giant. In TNA Kevin Nash and Scott Hall reunited and again claimed Tag Team gold.

Scott Hall even won WCW’s World War 3 Three Ring Battle Royal, won the WCW United States Title twice, most believe the US Title has always been a step up to a World Title but he never got there. He was four times an Intercontinental Champion in the WWE, before he would depart for “greener pastures” in WCW apart of the nWo angle.

People think of Scott Hall and they think about the problems has has had with alcohol, WCW even used this as part of a storyline having him stumbling to the ring with a drink. Over the years many issues have arisen for Scott Hall, but it seems that he is slowly getting on the straight and narrow.

As a multi-time Champion and a Hall of Famer, it is a shame that Scott Hall was never a WCW World Champion, or a WWE Champion. Scott Hall had the in ring skills, he had charisma, and knew how to work the crowd. Best known for coming up with concept of the Razor Ramon character, he brought that in part to WCW even though he went by his name.

The surprise element kept people wondering if he was going to remain Ramon, or become something else eventually after some legal issues behind the scenes he and Nash were finally revealed under their real names.

Kevin Nash would lift both WCW and WWE World Titles in his career, he would become the WWE’s third ever Triple Crown winner, claiming the World Title once, Tag Team Titles twice with Shawn Michaels, and also the Intercontinental Title once.

Say what you will about Scott Hall’s personal life, he was a legend in the ring, spanning many different promotions, winning titles, winning awards and having a career that has spanned almost 30 years. A crowning achievement for Scott would have been to have won a major World Title.

Perhaps his latter days with WCW he could have gotten to the World Title had he not had so many issues, his later issues would cost him dearly in WWE when he was fired soon after returning for the new nWo angle in the WWE which soon got canned.

The Band in TNA which was TNA’s version of the nWo Wolfpac didn’t last for long either before Waltman and Hall were both shown the door at TNA. A legendary career that might just be almost over, but one thing remains a lack of a major world title.

Scott Hall will forever be remembered for his match against Shawn Michaels at Wrestlemania that raised the bar for ladder matches that proceeded that one. Hall also will be remembered for his part in the beginning and the following growth of the nWo, and the Monday Night Wars.

A spot in the WWE Hall of Fame was richly deserved, as would have been a World Title, even though he claimed once the USWA United World Heavyweight Title but never grabbed a major World Title, other than many Tag Team Championships along the way.
