Cavs Media Day Analysis

Today was probably the most anticipated day for any NBA fan. It just seemed like yesterday I was watching the Warriors cut the nets down and holding the NBA Championship Trophy above their pompous heads. That had to of been one of the worst days of my life.

But then came the offseason... and who expected any of what happened to happen? First it was all about trade K Love for Melo and/or finding a new star to rival the obvious stacked Warriors. Then came the news that LeBron may not stay in Cleveland and take his talents to Hollywood, and begin his life after basketball. Then came the biggest and most shocking news of all, Kyrie's trade request. And in between you had little lights popping through the never-ending darkened tunnel, like the D-Rose signing, adding of veterans Calderon and Jeff, and arrival of new GM Koby Altman. But it was all overshadowed by the train wreck (No, not the actually really good movie that LeBron played) of an offseason.

I was sitting on my couch when I found out about the Kyrie trade. And at first, I was shocked it actually happened. I mean who would've given up what the Cavs wanted for a not-so-promising Irving (promising as in staying in a small market city). But then I saw the return, and a wave of joy came rushing through me. I mean, how could it actually happen we got a 2x better return.

I was nervous for today. I was nervous for IT, I was nervous for DRose, I was nervous for a not-so-informing answer coming from LeBron about his future. Turns out theres nothing to be nervous about. There seems to be a new atmosphere in this Cavs organization, but not because there should be, but because there has to be. The Cavs aren't going to go anywhere with the attitude they had last year, and they're definitely not going to let Boston run the cards this year. This. Is. A. New. Era. And I for one am so excited to see how it goes.

So here we go, my analysis:

LeBron: LeBron could not of had a better media day. I mean the man answered literally everything perfectly, and stood his ground with the Kyrie talk. If this is his last year in Cleveland (which he says its not) he's DEFINITELY not going out without a bang. A new LeBron?

IT: Yes, we should be worried about the hip... right now. So far, Thomas seems to be really positive about his hip, and the Cavs do too. The Cavs simply cannot rush IT. He is too much of a value to this team. As long as the Cavs don't rush, we should see the old IT. And that is really fucking exciting.

Love: I've always shouted to the mountain tops what Kevin means for this team. You take him out, we aren't a championship team. Simple. As. That. This is Kevin's turn to show his superpowers again. Cavs fans should be excited. And if all else fails... we trade for Demarcus Cousins hahaha.

DRose: Now, now. I just want to say that I believe Derrick had the best media day. I mean, he finally seems happy to play basketball again. And that's just a good story. We'll have to see what Rose can do to help this team make a fourth Straight finals. He has nothing to lose, and that is his mindset. If Rose can bring playmaking and hustle to the floor, thats all they need until Isaiah comes back. I am ecstatic to see this.

Yes, there was more to the media day, than just those 4 people. But these things are what stood out to me.

The Cavs have a really good chance this year (even better if they can pull DWade in) to win their second trophy. This could be the last chance for awhile, and the Cavaliers have to keep that in the back of their minds. With all of the talent they have added, new front office, and new logo/jerseys (I had to throw that in), this is the perfect opportunity to match the Warriors. There is still a long road to go, and the season hasn't even begun yet. But one thing I can guarantee you is that this will be the most electrifying Cavs team you have seen yet. Get ready Golden State...
