On to the Sweet 16

BLOG POST #3 FOR VIC3400 WITH PROFESSOR ELIO

Out of the 19 million brackets submitted to ESPN.com Tournament Challenge not one is perfect. Another opportunity has slipped through our hands to collect the one million grand prize offered by Warren Buffet for a perfect first round.

The tournament did not lack drama as 5 double digit seeds overcame the odds defeating heavy favorites to move onto the second round. Out of those 5 only 11 seeded Xavier survived and advanced to the Sweet 16.

Odds on favorites to win the tourney such as Duke, Villanova, Louisville and FSU were bounced during this weekend’s action which now leaves only 5 one and two seeds out of the possible eight the tournament started with.

The field is wide open for an unlikely champion such as Purdue or even South Carolina who hasn't won an NCAA tournament game since 1973 to keep on dancing to the trophy

A key game to watch is #2 Kentucky vs. #3 UCLA on Friday evening. This clash of titans is sure to be an instant classic, these two teams met earlier in the regular season with UCLA winning a shoot-out 97-93.
