Move Over Jay Z?
Lil Wayne has signed a contract to become Real Madrid Forward, Cristiano Ronaldo agent. "We're told Weezy's company will be working with PolarisSports—which is affiliated with the CAA agency and GestiFute—through which Ronaldo's agent Jorge Mendes operates. Our sources tell us Wayne's company will handle Ronaldo's sports management affairs in the United States—everything from branding to marketing and endorsement deals. Even modeling." says Lil Wayne's website. This move shakes up the whole sports agency industry because it seems that more and more players are shying away from actual sports agents such as Scott Boras or Don Meehan. The top-tier athletes are signing with other celebrities such as Jay Z and Lil Wayne.
Now obviously this will have virtually no effect on how the players perform but, it will be very interesting to see if Lil Wayne is doing this as more of a publicity stunt or he will seriously pursue this. Obviously, Jay Z has started his own business in Roc Nation who has already signed Kevin Durant and Robinson Cano. Jay Z has been very successful so far in this business and we'll have to see if Lil Wayne continues this.
