It appears Morrell will start season finale

It's been a long and grueling football season for Marshall football season but there is still one more game left before the Herd can put 2016 behind them and begin preparing for a bounce back in 2017.

It appears, however, that when the Herd straps up to take on rival Western Kentucky in the season finale Saturday night at 7 p.m. that it will be true freshman Garet Morrell getting the start at quarterback and not sophomore Chase Litton. There was speculation much of Friday, that Morrell might start as rumors floated around that Litton had injured his shoulder in last week's loss to Florida International.

Now there has been no official statement from the coaching staff on Litton's status, but Morrell did send out a message from his Twitter account Friday evening that did appear to confirm he would be getting his second start of the season. Morrell started earlier this year against nationally ranked Lousiville for a banged up Litton, in a game, the Herd lost 59-28.

Morrell first retweeted former Herd player DJ Hunter's tweet that read "ain't no pressure rookie, do ya thang" before tweeting out that "opportunities come and go," he ended that tweet by saying "it's time."

Morrell is 14-32 for 147 yards with three touchdowns and one interception on the season.
